Biblical evidence for Young Earth Creation - Post Flood Genealogy

From my previous posts we a time from Creation to the end of the flood of 1662 years +/- 5

Genesis 11:10-32 (KJB)
10  These are the generations of Shem: Shem was
an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two
years after the flood:
11  And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five
hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
12  And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and
begat Salah:
13  And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four
hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
14  And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
15  And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred
and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
16  And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat
Peleg:
17  And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred
and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
18  And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19  And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred
and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
20  And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat
Serug:
21  And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred
and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
22  And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23  And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred
years, and begat sons and daughters.
24  And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat
Terah:
25  And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred
and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
26  And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram,
Nahor, and Haran.
27  Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat
Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28  And Haran died before his father Terah in the land
of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29  And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name
of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's
wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of
Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30  But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31  And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son
of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law,
his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them
from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of
Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32  And the days of Terah were two hundred and five
years: and Terah died in Haran.

Flood – Arphaxad:      02
Arphaxad – Salah:      35
Salah - Eber:                30
Eber  - Peleg:               34
Peleg – Reu:                30
Reu - Serug:                32
Serug – Nahor:            30
Nahor – Terah:            29

This gives us an time from the flood to Abahams father Terah of 222 year with variation in time of birth durring the year producing an uncerinty of +/- 4 years. Adding this to the earlier figure gives us a time from creation to Terah 1884 years +/- 9.

Now the 70 year from Terah to Abram, Nahor, and Haran is clearly the Terah’s age a the birth of his eldest son who seems to have been Haran. This is be cause Haran is rcorded as having had three children Lot, Milcah, and Iscah, and died befor Abram, Nahor gort married, futher more Nahor married Haran’s dauter Milcah further sugesting the Haran was the oldest.

Genesis 12:1-4 (KJB)
1  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee
out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from
thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will
bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt
be a blessing:
3  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse
him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families
of the earth be blessed.
4  So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken
unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was
seventy and five years old when he departed out of
Haran.

These are the next verses after the death of Terah suggesting it occurred after Terah’s death. Note that Abram leaves Haran at the age of 75 years and Terah died at 205 years old, indicating that Abram was bon when Terah was 130 which which would be consistent with his brother Haran being the oldest born when Terah was 70. meaning that Haran was 60 when Abram was born.  In any case this gives us an additional 205 years with an uncertainty of a year, resulting in a time from creation to the time Abram leaves Haran of 2089 years +/- 10.

Luke 3:35-36 (KJB)
35  Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son
of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was
the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,
36  Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son
of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was
the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

The one gap in this genealogy is the fact that Genesis 11 omits the Cainan mentioned between Arphaxad and Salah however assuming that it also amounts to a gap in time would probably only add a gap 30-40 years and at most possibly around 400 years but the best explanation is for Cainan’s ommision in Genesis 11 was that he died befor his son Salah was born and Salah was raised by his grandfather Arphaxad. Arphaxad was 35 when Salah was born and since most men a physically capable of fathering a child by age 14 that meas that there is plenty of room for Cainan it have fathered Salah and then having died his son was rased by his grandfather. A possible scenario could be that Cainan was born when Arphaxad 18 years old and Salah was born when Cainan was 17 and Arphaxad was 35. In any event the likely hood is that inserting Cainan would not have any affect on the time line any giving us our time from creation to the time Abram leaves Haran of 2089 years +/- 10.

Biblical evidence for Young Earth Creation - The Flood

From the last part of this series we have 1561 years +/- 5 years from creation to the birth of Noah’s three sons or at least the oldest of them when Noah was 500 years old. In fact based on information in Genesis 11 we can conclude that Shem was actually born when Noah was 502 years old so the 500 years old would seem to refer to the birth of Noah’s first born son which would not have been Shem.

Genesis 7:6-11 (KJB)
6  And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood
of waters was upon the earth.
7  And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his
sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters
of the flood.
8  Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and
of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9  There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the
male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10  And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters
of the flood were upon the earth.
11  In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second
month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day
were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and
the windows of heaven were opened.

These verses show that the Flood started when Noah was 600 years old so adding 100 years to our earlier figure we get 1661 years +/- 5.

Genesis 8:12-14 (KJB)
13  And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first
year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the
waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah
removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and,
behold, the face of the ground was dry.
14  And in the second month, on the seven and
twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

Here we see that the Flood ended when Noah was 601 years old with the Flood lasting one year. This gives us a time from Creation to the end of the flood of 1662 years +/- 5.
